Mary vs. Martha!

I've often felt more like a Martha (for wanting to get something done) wrapped up in a Mary's body (being leisurely occupied in something else).  Came across this website - 31 Days to Clean - via facebook and I'm curious.  Could this be the book that helps bring order to our home?  Would love to check it out.  Leave me a comment if you've read the book and how it's helped.

Thanks!

Reflections . . .

on today would be to borrow Matt Maher's music ~

Let no one caught in sin remain
Inside the lie of inward shame
We fix our eyes upon the cross
And run to Him who showed great love

And bled for us
Freely You've bled for us

Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave

Christ is risen from the dead
We are one with Him again
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave

Beneath the weight of all our sin
You bowed to none but Heaven's will
No scheme of Hell, no scoffer's crown
No burden great can hold You down

In strength You reign
Forever let Your church proclaim

Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave

Christ is risen from the dead
We are one with Him again
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave

O death, where is your sting?
O hell, where is your victory?
O church, come stand in the light
The glory of God has defeated the night

Sing it, o death, where is your sting?

O hell, where is your victory?
O church, come stand in the light
Our God is not dead, He's alive, He's alive

Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave

Christ is risen from the dead
We are one with Him again
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave

Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave

Christ is risen from the dead
We are one with Him again
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave
Rise up from the grave

From this week ~
  • Oldest earned two strips at Tae Kwon Do yesterday - woo hoo way to go kiddo
  • took a walk through the woods earlier, this past week.  Nice break to the day.
  • Spring Break never seems to last long enough!  Fortunately, summer vacation starts soon.

One Thousand Gifts

Many are aware of Ann Voskamp's "One Thousand Gifts".  I've been reading, slowly through the book as well.  Finally get around to my own Thousand Gifts.  The list began last night, with the following:
  1. viewing the sunset, through trees laden with spring buds, from the kitchen window
  2. deck boards, cool to my feet, on a warm evening
  3. continued today:
  4. cool breeze coming through window
  5. okay nights sleep
  6. patiences for a long to do list
I hope to make it to 1,000.  Will you join me if you haven't started?

Homemade Peppermint Mocha

Some things in life can only be expressed by YUM!!

I read somewhere or Kevin told me about steeping Earl Grey before mixing in your Hot Chocolate Mix.  It sounded interesting and something that might be worth trying, at least once.  Well, I remembered I had Peppermint Tea which would be even better and it is (I've tried both).

To make:
  • make tea as you would usually
  • once tea bag is out, mix in hot chocolate mix
So simple and so good.  For a high maintenance drink, I'll brew fresh coffee and pour that over the tea bag and leaving some room at top.  Let steep, remove tea bag, add hot chocolate powder, a splash of milk, and mix.  YUM! Hot Peppermint Mocha!  (and we generally top with whip cream and sprinkles)

P.S. Just uploaded a bunch of pictures so I am back blogging and retro dating.

SUMMER, sUmMeR, s u m m e r

Today has been a warm day.  At a friends facebook post about working on getting rid of the her farmers tan, I decided to work a bit outside and catch a few rays myself.  It felt good, even if warm, to feel the occasional breeze, to be buzzed by a bee, to hear the dog panting (but refusing to go in), to hear the screen doors being opened and closed.

Also today, we've polished off the first round of home made fruit-sicles.  The boys called them frozen smoothies and basically they are.  I can forsee buying mass quantities of fruit for the summer.  Have to snicker though, I'm getting a lot of fruit into my boys this way.  These were the main portion of their lunch, along with a yogurt.

Off to clean and possibly start rearranging some furniture.

Happy Early Summer, Popsicles, and Reading!
