15. The Best

Best means one of the following:

1. Adjective Of the most excellent, effective, or desirable type or quality: "the best pitcher in the league". 
2. Adverb To the highest degree; most: "the one we liked best". 
3. Noun That which is the most excellent, outstanding, or desirable.
4. Verb Outwit or get the better of (someone): "she refused to allow herself to be bested". 

For the last several years (I have forgotten how many, but more than 5), my favorite coffee is "Mayorga, Cafe Cubano".  It's a good, strong coffee that I've become quite fond of iced - even in the winter!  :)  YUM!

Although it's more expensive than the store brand, whole beans (or the already ground varieties as well),  it is competitively priced with coffee shop beans.  We buy it from Costco and their regular price, per pound is about $7.50.  Crazy thing is, it is even cheaper than if I ordered directly through Mayorga.  Costco can get some great prices in bulk!

14. Trash

Today's photo prompt is ~ Trash ~. Knew what I would photograph as soon as I saw the prompt. It is the following wash stand I found along our street on trash day a few years ago (8 years maybe). The door had broken off, was missing a towel bar, and desperately needed to be refinished. Fortunately, once in awhile I can see the beauty in things. I knocked on their door to make sure they were really throwing it away and asked if I could take it. High tailed it home, got the van, and picked it up!

With some tender loving care, the wash stand looks beautiful. Please see past the bad photography!

Photo Catch Up

Have been trying to keep up with the photo thing from FMS Photo! Getting them onto my blog has been a bit of a challenge this past weekend. Here's what I've done so far:

~ 10. Beverage ~

I really enjoy water; almost as much as much as my coffee!

~ 11. I Love Doing This ~

Most of the time, I do enjoy knitting.  Even when I mess up and redo (sometimes more than once or twice)

~ 12. Macro ~

My attempt at Macro!  This is a metal candle tin, with star cutouts!

~ 2:00 ~

Forgive my tardiness in getting a photo at 2:00 exactly. 2 AM wasn't going to happen and at 2 PM I'd been pulling some brownies together.

2:03 PM ~ why is it sort of special?  Approximately 13 years and 7 months ago our oldest was born at 2:33 in the afternoon.  That is the best I can come up with!

 

Peek~a~boo

Today's photo from FMS Photo a Day is "Peek A Boo". Wasn't sure what I'd try to capture until Charlotte went to her favorite spot and peeked behind the curtain!  She sure loves being outside and watching the world go by.  When it's too hot, cold or whatever, the livingroom window seems to do the trick.

A Sign

I have Jeff Foxworthy running through my head ~ he's saying, "Here's your sign!" We haven't even watched his show in a very long time. Weird how certain memories can be called up by a single phrase, scent, or picture.

This Means A Lot to Me!

So many good and honorable things to choose from that would fall under, "This Means A Lot to Me!" category.  Lots of things come to mind quickly, things like:

• Bible
• my husband
• wedding rings
• oldest son
• youngest son
• house
• car
• food
• husband's job
• church
• family
• friends

However, one of the harder things to put on that list, and probably should be, is the dirty counter top after a meal, when everyone needs to bolt to get to the next activity.  Dishwasher is full and running, house is empty except for me and the pets, dishes are still there needing to be dealt with.  The right thing to do, is to just attack the pile and get it done.  That is not always something I desire to do.  Oh to be a kid again and be able to ignore it.  But we don't stay kids for long ~ thankfully!  So with a Pandora station playing, I got at the post dinner clean up.  And really, it didn't take all that long; ten minutes max.  Definitely something to be thankful for, a reminder of the blessings we have in life.  Without much more fan fare, here is the August Photo to go with "This Means A Lot to Me".

~ Early ~

Stretch, grumble, where's the coffee, it's EARLY!

New I would not be one of those with an early morning

sunrise.

 

Normally, I am an early riser in our house ~ somewhere between 5:30 and 6:30 without an alarm.  Today, not so much.  Think it was 7:40 or so and probably could have gone longer had I realized it was "late" and dragged myself downstairs.

 

In lieu of an early morning sunrise, I offer a photo of my "not early riser" being woken up!

 

 

 

Fresh

Today's picture is suppose to be something fresh! Wanted to avoid what I thought was the obvious fresh things:  a fresh new day, bowl of fresh fruit or veggies, freshly laundered clothes!  So I leave you with this photo:

Our boys hadn't seen Skyline Drive before,
so we took a Sunday Drive and "they got it!"
Even overcast, it was a nice day.

The first! Number 1!

August 1, 2013 ~ Eight month, first day, two thousand thirteen.

What does your month hold for you?  Are there any fun plans before school starts?  When does school start for you?

Hoping to get some fun things in!  Not sure what all, but some day trips would be good!
